>>FRIDAY, I CAME HOME TO A
NOTICE THAT THE GAS HAD BEEN
SHUT OFF INDEFINITELY BECAUSE OF THE REPAIRS. VANESSA: A SPOKESPERSON FOR HOME
PROPETIES TELLS ME A NATURAL GAS
LEAK IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE
OUTAGE. THE WORK TO REPAIR OR REPLACE
GAS LINES COULD TAKE UP TO THREE
TO FOUR WEEKS TO COMPLETE. HOLLAND SAYS RESIDENTS WERE TOLD
TO REACH OUT TO THEIR RENTERS
INSURANCE COMPANIES TO ASK ABOUT
REIMBURSEMENT FOR HOTELS.>>THEY SAID IT SHOULD BE
COVERED BY MY PROPERTY BECAUSE
IT IS A PROPERTY ISSUE. VANESSA: IN A STATEMENT, A
SPOKESPERSON FOR HOME PROPERTIES
SAID RESIDENTS ARE BEING
ASSISTED IN MULTIPLE WAYS
INCLUDING WAIVING THE BASE RENT

DISCOUNTED RATES AT LOCAL
HOTELS, AND PROVIDING EACH
AFFECTED HOUSEHOLD WITH A VISA
GIFT CARD.>>MY RENT IS AROUND $1000 PER
MONTH. THIS $600 GIFT CARD, $1600, IF I
HAD TO FIND A HOTEL TO STAY IN
FOR THE NEXT FOUR WEEKS. VANESSA: AS THE WORK CONTINUES
HOLLAND IS HOPING SHE’LL BE ABLE

MANY OF HER NEIGHBORS DON’T WANT
TO LEAVE.>>A LOT OF FAMILIES ARE WANTING
TO STAY IN THIS AREA BECAUSE OF
THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE KIDS WHO
GO TO THIS SCHOOL, THEY ARE USED
TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD, OR THEY
