Keystone Creations: Char-Wills German Shepherd Rescue

3 “WELL, WE’VE ALWAYS DONE TRAINING, AND BOARDING… AND I’VE ALWAYS HAD GERMAN SHEPHERDS. SO PEOPLE WOULD JUST SORT OF, ‘HEY, I HAVE A DOG THAT NEEDS A HOME’.” BETWEEN THE CIRCUMSTANCES… DIANE BUHLEé CHAR-WILLS GERMAN SHEPHERD RESCUE”AND THEN I WORKED AT A SHELTER AND STARTED SEEING HOW MANY DOGS NEEDED HOMES”… AND THE SYMPATHY, IT WASN’T LONG BEFORE CHAR-WILLS IN NEW RINGGOLD TURNED FROM A TRAINING FACILITY, INTO A GERMAN SHEPHERD RESCUE… AND A FAST-GROWING ONE.”NOW IT’S VERY BIG. IT’S MUCH LARGER THAN WE EVER THOUGHT IT WOULD BE.”SO BIG, THAT IT’S LANDED DIANE ON THE NEWS BEFORE.”A WOMAN WHO, MAYBE AT ONE TIME WANTED TO DO THE RIGHT THING, SAID SHE RESCUED GERMAN SHEPHERDS. BUT SOMETIMES THINGS GET OUT OF CONTROL, AND SHE ENDED UP WITH 40-SOMETHING DOGS IN HER HOUSE.”MOST RECENTLY, CHAR-WILLS WAS THE RECIPIENT OF SEVEN SHEPHERDS THAT WERE THE VICTIMS OF A CRUELTY CASE IN MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE. BUT IT WASN’T THE FIRST TIME THE RESCUE HAS ATTRACTED ATTENTION ON A NATIONAL STAGE.”ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO, WE TOOK IN 17 DOGS FROM VIRGINIA.”ANOTHER CASE THAT HAD SPIRALED OUT OF CONTROL.”IT WAS AN OLDER COUPLE. THE WIFE PASSED AWAY, AND THE HUSBAND ENDED UP IN A NURSING HOME. IT WAS GOING FROM BAD TO WORSE, I GUESS, FOR A WHILE. “NOW, IT ISN’T UNCOMMON FOR THE DOGS CHAR- WILLS TAKES IN TO COME FROM OUT-OF-STATE…”EVERY DAY I GET CALLS FROM DOGS IN TEXAS AND CALIFORNIA… A LOT OF DOGS FROM LOUISIANA. I HAVE A FRIEND WHO WORKS IN A SHELTER DOWN THERE, AND UNFORTUNATELY SHE SAID IT’S REALLY BAD OUT THERE.”BUT JUST BECAUSE THEY HAD A ROUGH START…LISA WARRENé HOPING TO FOSTER FINN “THIS IS FINN. FINN CAME IN AS A RESCUE!”…DOESN’T MEAN THESE DOWN-ON-THEIR-LUCK DOGS WON’T GET THEIR HAPPY ENDING. LISA WARRENé HOPING TO FOSTER FINN”I LOVE ANIMALS, AND I WANT TO TRY AND HELP AS MANY AS I CAN. USUALLY THE HARD KNOCK STORIES ARE THE ONES I LEAN TOWARDS.”BUT AS LONG AS THERE ARE DOGS TO BE RESCUED, CHAR-WILLS WILL BE THERE TO HELP THEM ON THEIR WAY TO THEIR FOREVER HOMES.”IT’S GOOD AND BAD. IT’S BAD THAT THERE ARE SO MANY DOGS THAT NEED HOMES, BUT IT’S GOOD THAT THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE WILLING TO OPEN UP THEIR HOME TO ADOPT A DOG.”FOR KEYSTONE CREATIONS, AND EYEWITNESS NEWS, I’M KRISTINA SHALHOUP
