Lady Gaga Blasted by PETA for Dressing Pet Dog Asia in Heavy Jewellery and Frills

Grammy winning singer Lady Gaga is on the
receiving end of a backlash from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for
dressing up her pet, a French bulldog, Asia. The 28-year-old Born This Way singer shared
a series of photos of Asia covered in heavy jewellery and frilly outfit on Instagram.
In one image, Asia is seen with earrings clipped on her ears and seeing that, prompting some
users to express their concern. Jamie Raesly wrote: “Wouldn’t you think that clip on earrings
would hurt a poor dog’s thin ears?!?!” Meanwhile, another user, Andie, commented: “When a dog’s
eyes are red like that, it means it’s stressed out” The animal rights organisation blasted
Gaga for her act. “Lady Gaga may choose to decorate herself with elaborate and even uncomfortable
outfits, but Asia doesn’t get to make that choice,” PETA senior vice president of Cruelty
Investigations Department, Daphna Nachminovitch, told “Us Weekly”. “Although it seems pretty
clear that Lady Gaga loves Asia, we think Asia — and all dogs — are adorable without
all the added flair, and that the best accessory for any dog is a comfortable, secure, well-fitting
harness, which is perfect for long walks together,” she added. This is not the first time the
animal rights activists have locked horns with Lady Gaga. In 2010, PETA slammed Gaga
for wearing that infamous meat dress to the MTV Video Music Awards. Again, in 2012, the
animal rights advocacy group blasted the singer for wearing fur.
