Long-lost dog going home


O. TANTRUM IS A CLINICAL — PITBULL, LAB MIX AND WAS BROUGHT TO THE SHELTER A COUPLE WEEKS AGO, BUT NOW TANTUM IS FINALLY GOING HOME. SHE DOESN’T EXACTLY LIVE UP TO HER NAME. SHE IS ABOUT AS MELLOW AS THEY COME. MAYBE ALL HER TRAVELS HAVE TIRED HER OUT. SHE WAS BROUGHT TO THE NEBRASKA HUMANE SOCIETY IN LATE FEBRUARY A STRAY WITH WHAT LOOKED LIKE BITE MARKS ON HER HEAD. WHEN THE VETS TOOK A CLOSER LOOK THEY MADE AN AMAZING DISCOVERY.>>THEY WENT AHEAD AND DID MEDICAL TREATMENT AND WHEN THEY SCANNED HER, THEY FOUND THAT HER CHIP TRACED TO A NAME IN LAS CRUCES, NEW MEXICO. REPORTER: HER ORIGINAL OWNER WAS MORE THAN A THOUSAND MILES AWAY. PAM WIESE AND THE NHS CREW REACHED OUT AND LEARNED SHE’D BEEN LOST FOR MORE THAN TWO YEARS.>>ONCE WE DID THAT AND HE KNEW THAT IT WAS HER, HE STARTED WORKING ON GETTING A PLANE TICKET FOR HER TO GET BACK TO NEW MEXICO. REPORTER: BEFORE HEADING HOME , TANTRUM HAD TO WAIT FOR HER WOUNDS TO HEAL.>>SHE CAN’T FLY WITH ANY TYPE OF MEDICAL DEVICE ON, IT NEEDS TO BE CLEARED TO FLY AND SO WE WAITED THE 10 DAYS FOR THE STITCHES TO COME OUT AND THEN SHE WAS CLEARED TO FLY. REPORTER: NOW-SHE’S GOOD TO GO, READY TO BE REUNITED.>>IT’S SO EXCITING THAT IT’S BEEN TWO YEARS AND YET SHE GETS TO GO HOME AND THAT HER OWNER IS STILL VERY EXCITED ABOUT GETTING HER BACK. REPORTER: TANTRUM WILL HEAD HOME ON FRIDAY. MEETING UP WITH HER OWNER IN EL PASO, TEXAS BEFORE EVENTUALLY REACHING HER HOME IN NEW MEXICO.
