Methuen Police Investigate Shooting Death Of German Shepherd


INJURY AND AS A RESULT, TRAFFIC WILL BE IMPACTED ON 495 SOUTH IN ANDOVER. A DOG WAS FOUND SHOT TO DEATH IN ITS YARD IN METHUEN. THEY WANT TO KNOW WHO SHOT HIM AND WHY AND WHY AND WE HAVE MICHAEL CROSS LIVE AT THE SCENE WHERE POLICE JUST RELEASED NEW INFORMATION. Reporter: THE WOMAN THAT LIVES HERE AT 25 LOWELL BOULEVARD GOT HOME JUST AFTER 1:00 AND FOUND ONE OF HER DOGS SHOT TO DEATH IN THE BACKYARD. METHUEN AND STATE POLICE WERE ASSIGNED AND THEY ARE INVESTIGATING. IT’S ON THE BUSY ROUTE 110 AND BACKS UP TO A HILLY AND WOODED AREA NEXT TO THE MERRIMACK RIVER. METHUEN POLICE SAID THE DOG WAS FOUND IN A REMOTE AREA THAT DOESN’T HAVE PUBLIC ACCESS AND THEY SAID THE DOG WAS INTENTIONALLY SHOT AND THE FAMILY THAT LIVES HERE HAVE FOUR DOGS AND ONE OF THE OTHER DOGS, HE ALERTED THE OWNER SOMETHING WAS WRONG. IT BROUGHT THE YOUNG LADY TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DOG. THE OTHER DOG WAS LAYING ON THE DECEASED DOG WHEN SHE RETURNED HOME AND SHE WAS CHECKING ON THAT SITUATION AND DISCOVERED THE DECEASED DOG THAT ITS HEAD HAD BEEN SHOT. Reporter: ONE OF THE FAMILY’S OTHER DOGS MAY HAVE BEEN GRAZED BY A BULLET BUT THAT IS STILL NOT CLEAR. POLICE AND STATE POLICE REMAIN HERE ON THE SCENE AND THEY ARE ALSO CHECKING IN WITH NEIGHBORS WHO WERE JUST RETURNING HOME FROM WORK TO SEE IF THERE ARE HOME SECURITY SYSTEMS THAT MIGHT HAVE CAPTURED A SUSPECT
