The two dogs that my family had adopted were rescues that people had abandoned im pur neighborhood. Both chihuahuas! They stole my heart from the moment we got them. How anyone could neglect and abuse animals breaks my heart. I just feel like every shelter dog i wanna like take home and spoil and love them!!

Welcome Amaya! Hello beautiful baby I’m so glad you guys found each other

What a great story! <3 Unfortunately, the rescues in my area REQUIRE a fenced yard, no exceptions, and that is not an option for me in my neighborhood. So, as much as I wanted to rescue, my baby dog came from an acquaintance who had an "oops!" litter. Dogs are the best! ^_^

I'm having a weird enough day this made me cry. I'm looking forward to getting an older rescue Pyrenees. I have a hard time being firm enough to train puppies well (HUGE pushover) but an older doggo that's already housebroken is absolutely my speed, age isn't important when it comes to family and sharing your life with a companion. So glad you and Amaya found each other. <3

I'm so glad you got to rescue Amaya! Poor girl! I don't know how people can do that to another living being. Amaya has gotten a great home! 🙂

We have loved our rescued dogs, one we rescued as a puppy and one as a senior. One passed away a couple months ago. We still have 2 dogs so not getting another yet. I am so happy for your new addition to your family. Thank you for accepting a rescue. I love the video of the dogs playing together.

Nyx and Amaya look like they were instant BFFs!

My littlest dog came from the shelter. She had a sad story and sad eyes and I just fell for her immediately based on her picture. She was my first rescue and I had reservations about it but she's the sweetest little dog.

So just ignore my DM on IG, this explained everything 😂😂

You and Ray are so amazing to drive all that way to adopt her. All three of you are amazing for being willing to adopt her soon after Phaedra. I can’t wait to see how she continues to come out of her shell as you all love on her 💜💜

Loved this video. You look more relaxed, NYX looks happy and Amaya looks amazing. When we lost our 12 year old Yorkie 7 years ago we were devastated. Herbie was so important to my late husband as he got him up and moving as well as being such a great companion. Three weeks later we adopted Ruby. We knew we wanted a rescue BUT we also wanted a dog that had a disability and perhaps would be overlooked. We found Ruby who is a Maltese mix who was a tripod. Her original owner was being deported and gave her to another family in Detroit. The second family let her run and she was hit by a car and lost a back leg. In fact the original owner paid the vet bill for the surgery. She then went into rescue where we found her through my sister who lives on that side of Michigan. She was just turning 4 and will be 11 next month. Since Dick passed away she has been the towel for my tears as well as a faithful companion. Also I was able to pass a recommendation along to this rescue group and found two other dogs a forever home. So happy for all of you!

Congratulations 🎉🎈🎊 Amaya is gorgeous and a very lucky dog to get you as her person. All my dogs have been rescued except I have 1 Akita from a show home. He had an overbite so couldn’t be shown. But my friend with the Akitas only breeds like every couple of years and both parents are tested for everything imaginable. That’s the breeders that need to be commended. She also shows very frequently and has mostly grand champions and one dog is a Top10 Akita. We lost 2 dogs in the last year to 2 different rare horrible cancers and are still devastated but we decided to adopt a Catahoulas/pit mix at 9 weeks old but in the last few months he’s been fighting our male Akita so bad. I got bit really bad and we are now having to keep them separate and it sucks but we have a behaviorist working with us now so hopefully it helps. We drive 7 hours to meet our female Akita and lived her and turned right around and drove alll the way back. Mine are all spayed and neutered. I’m a big advocate of that and was a vet tech for 14 years. I’ll never forget we used to get to work and there’d be a box of kittens at the door or a dog tied to the pole at our office. People just suck!!!

Nyx looks so happy! 👍👍👍👍 Thank you for adopting! 🙌🙌🙌 It's awesome that you even adopted after buying, some people just get in a pattern of buying without even trying to adopt. 🙏🙏🙏🙏 It's also great to show people that you can get a young, specific breed! 👏👏👏👏 What a beautiful way to honor Phaedra, giving another dog a fresh chance at life! (Also Amaya is very cute!)

We had a dog when I was a kid whom we adopted. My First dog (that was mine) was given to me from a litter of my friends dogs puppies. After he passed I was all about adoption. I need a dog due to my anxiety and PTSD. I went through about 3-4 dogs trying to see if they would work with my mom's dog. My mom's dog picked Ruby, my current dog. They said she was a pitbull. (I did a ton of research on pitbulls because my boss owned them. I think Ruby is actually a staffie, but when I would walk her as a baby I definitely heard neighbors whisper about how bad pits are. When I got Ruby (6 months old) she was so stubborn and playful wanted to eat everything that I almost didn't have time to think about how much I missed George (my first dog). She made me frustrated and laugh so hard so often. (She also had motion sickness for about 3-4 months when I started to take her to work. One morning I remember she ate her food and while I was in the bathroom, my mom's dog and her were running circles in the house. I heard my mom's dog bark in her "somethings wrong" kind of way and I came out and Ruby had run herself sick and was throwing up her breakfast. I couldn't help but laugh as I tried to tell her it was ok.
I'm so glad you have a new baby in your life and you rescued one that really needed you. Rescuing a dog is the only way I'd go. Amaya looks so happy to be in her new home! Sending love to you and your whole family. <3

  24. Ghoultiful Hag says:

So happy for you and Nyx! Pets are so wonderful and when you find the right pet it just clicks. It is so great that you were willing to help Amaya even when you were grieving.

  25. angie rubio says:

You are so beautiful inside and out.
Poodles are my favorite and I personally have had a toy poodle for 15 years. My family has only had rescued dogs or stray puppies we find.
This video is important because it’s hard to find poodles at shelters but with research it can be done
I agree with you that people should not feel guilty it they cannot adopt.

  26. Eliza Topolosky says:

I am just so over the moon that this all worked out for you! Like I mentioned to you, I truly feel like this was beshert! I hope I can meet her one day. We are planning a play date with her sister Lexi soon!

  27. Karen Tyas says:

Wow Amayas coloring is gorgeous!!! I’m so happy for you and glad Nyx approves 😊

So, by adopting you’ve now saved at LEAST 2 dogs lives. You saved Amaya AND by adopting her you opened a space for the rescue to pull another dog from a shelter. Then the shelter goes on to have room for another dog and so on 💜

I wish I’d known, I could have offered transport at least half of the way but it sounds like your road trip gave you a great bonding experience.

  28. Sv T says:

Happy to see you happy again.
Best thing you did is to adopt Amaya, I am sure she is happy too that she is now in a warm home, getting love and care that she needs. I wish you all the best to you. ♥
